I am Fariba Kalhor and I was born in Tehran, Iran in 1961. I have received MA in Education from Tehran University and MA in Persian language and literature from Azad University. Before beginning my writing career, I was educator in two children’s library. At the age of 22, I started to work in Roshd Children’s magazine as a writer. After 8 years, I was invited by Soroush Publishing Company to launch a children’s magazine along with Mostafa Rahmandoost (one of the most famous poets in Iran). That Magazine eventually became what is now known as Soroush e Koodakan. Between 1991 and 2004 I was the editor-in-chief of the magazine along with Mr. Rahmandoost. Most of my stories are in fantasy genre.  In 1991 I wrote Iran’s first fantasy novel for Yonge adult called Today my Chelchele.
In 1987, at 26 years of age, my first picture book, Wind’s playmate, was published. My body of work include picture books, books for Yonge adults, short stories and retelling myths and tales. Since my debut as an author in 1983 I have published over 150 books and a lot of stories in children’s magazine. For this reason, I am known as “A lady with a thousand of stories”.
Some of my works have been translated into various languages such as: English, Arabic, Russian and   Chinese. Some of my story Collections have been published bilingually in both Farsi and English. one of my books has been translated to Braille. Also, in 2013 one of my books, “My oppressed friend” was placed into the annual White Ravens Catalogue. I have been the recipient number of awards in my home country, Iran.
